PEMPHIGOID GESTATIONAL: Case Report

Abstract


Gestational pemphigoid (GP) is a rare autoimmune disease of the skin that occurs during pregnancy. This condition is typically present as an itchy tense blisters. The aim of this case report is to understand about clinical symptoms of GP, therefore can appropriate therapy can be provided, leading to satisfactory results. The author reports a 26-years-old woman who was pregnant with her first child in the second trimester, presenting with an itchy rash followed by appearance of tense vesicles and bullae which spread throughout the body. The diagnosis was established through histopathological examination. The patient was then given corticosteroid and antihistamine as a symptomatic management, which was followed by tapering off the dose. The patient responded well to the prescribed medications.
